We have a landmark climate law in place now after years of effort.
But the job is not done.

Moving fossil fuel companies off of fossil fuels and to renewable energy is essential to meeting critical emissions reduction targets and protecting our health.

LWVMA is prioritizing The Future of Heat bill (H.3298/S.2148), filed by Senator Creem and Representative Ehrlich, to move toward this crucial outcome.
The Future of Heat bill would allow gas utilities to transition from distributing gas to distributing clean, safe, renewable thermal energy for heating and cooling of buildings. The bill allows for those outcomes while offering a viable business model for gas utilities and gas workers.
A replacement for natural gas means less need for more solar installations and no need for new gas pipelines. These are specific benefits for our farms and forests
as well as the general benefit for the climate
Tell your legislators how much you would appreciate their participation and support.
