It is very clear at this time that the Alternative 5b access point will never be implemented. No agency, local government, or organization has agreed to fund the construction or operations and maintenance of the new road or parking area Alternative 5b proposes. Without such an agreement in place, Alternative 5b can't be implemented. There are multiple other issues created by Alternative 5b illustrated in the photos below.

It is critical for you to make your voice heard. Please come to the meeting on Wednesday, and tell the Conservancy Board to approve a project that can actually be implemented. It is time to move Fresno River West forward, and Alternative 1 is the way to do so.

If you'd like more information, have any questions, or would be interested in touring the project area this week please contact us at or call 559-248-8480.
This is Spano Park. It would be decimated by construction of a road through the middle of it under Alternative 5b.
Here is the bluff face that will have to be rebuilt for the construction of the new road contemplated by Alternative 5b.
Here is a view from Spano Park out to the proposed parking area on the inert dump site. This photo from March 2017 shows the property partly inundated by high flows from the river.

Alternative 1 includes access on Riverview Drive - an existing connector street built to serve a riverbottom development that never took place. Riverview Drive is not a residential street, and it is so wide that you can park 7 cars across it. The distance from the corner of Audubon and Del Mar to the entrance gate is approximately 736 feet or 245 yards, and does not cross in front of any homes or driveways.
