Keep Climate Change and Public Lands in the Budget!
Public lands play a powerful role in mitigating and adapting to climate change, but we need a bold climate plan to capture their potential. Congress must take an essential first step by advancing climate action on public lands in its 2022 budget reconciliation bill.
This urgent action includes:
- Funding a Civilian Climate Corps to restore ecosystems, perform deferred maintenance, and advance energy retrofitting—with a priority on projects in frontline communities.
- Updating federal oil and gas bonding requirements to help better cover the cost of clean up. This will help prevent future orphaned wells while protecting communities and combating climate change.
- Funding and developing a clean renewable energy program that meets America's needs while not harming or degrading our public lands and waters, or causing further damage to our climate.
Take Action!
