If your Senator sits on the Ways & Means Committee, please take 5 minutes to email asking them to vote SSB 5760 out of committee and to keep the funding at $20M a year. Take a look at this handy spreadsheet to see the names of the Senators on the Committee and their contact information. If you have already written to your Senator about this – THANK YOU!
Your communication can be short and sweet, 3-4 sentences tops! Here is what we suggest you include:
- Who you are and how you are affiliated with the film industry
- Why you think it’s important to pass SSB 5760 to increase funding for the MPCP
- Ask your Senator to pass the bill out of committee and to keep the level of funding for the program at $20M annually
- Thank them for their time and consideration.
Here’s a sample email that you can use for inspiration:
Dear Senator,
My name is (fill in your name) and I am a constituent that lives in your district and I work in the film industry as a (fill in your role). I am writing to express my support for SSB 5760 because it would attract bigger budget film productions that would provide year round work for our local cast and crew. As a member of the Senate Ways and Means Committee, I urge you to pass the bill out of the budget committee and to keep the level of funding for the program at $20M annually.
