The fight for life continues in New Mexico and we need you to stand firm with us! This Friday, House Bill 7 will be presented to the House Health and Human Services Committee. This bill is an attack on life.
What's the Bill?
This bill appears to be a retaliation on our cities that have been declared sanctuaries for the unborn. The bill restricts local governments and agents from denying, restricting, or interfering with a person's ability to access "reproductive healthcare" including abortion, or "gender-affirming" healthcare. These public bodies will not be free to impose or continue any law, ordinance, policy or regulation that violates or conflicts with the provisions of the bill. HB7 also creates legal recourse for individuals who believe their ability to obtain these services has been obstructed.
Bottom Line - The bill ensures access to abortion and gender-affirming services across our state. Local governments and agents will have no rights to provide life protections within their communities.
What can you do?
Contact the House Health and Human Service Committee members and urge them to vote NO for HB7. "Public bodies and agents" should maintain the right to determine what is best for their communities which includes restricting the services provided within that community. Communities should not be penalized for protecting our pre-born babies.
