Our 2021 Campaign Video is here!

We are very excited to share inspiring words from some very special people. In this year’s campaign video, we decided to ask some of our brightest and most dedicated community leaders to share their stories about what it means to LIVE UNITED. These individuals know firsthand how important United Way’s work is – from successful children and youth to economic opportunity to healthy and safe living – and they are committed to being a part of United Way’s efforts for lasting change. Please take a moment to watch this 3-minute video.

Embrace Louisiana Project

On Sunday, August 29th, United Way of Northeast Louisiana launched “Embrace Louisiana,” a disaster relief project encompassing a goods donation drive, volunteer opportunities, and a monetary fund.

All Embrace Louisiana goods and funds received were immediately used to meet the basic needs of the hundreds of Hurricane Ida evacuees sheltering in Northeast Louisiana. The unused goods and funds will be donated to United Way of South LA (Terrebonne and surrounding parishes) and St. John United Way (St. John the Baptist Parish), the home parishes of the majority of the Hurricane Ida evacuees in our community. No portion of contributions will be used for United Way of Northeast Louisiana overhead or administration. All donations are tax deductible.
Thank you for your outstanding generosity!
Thank you to our AWESOME community for responding to these urgent needs! We could not do the work we do without you. Watch the video below to see just a portion of the goods you donated. Follow us on Facebook for more stories and photos!
Calling all READ.LEARN.SUCCEED. volunteers!

Volunteers are needed October 2021-March 2022. To volunteer, visit unitedwaynela.org/volunteer or call 211.
VolunteerUNITED Spotlight:
Ascent Healthcare

Our friends from Ascent Healthcare sent 14 volunteers to help at the Civic Center after Hurricane Ida brought evacuees to our parish. These awesome employees racked up over 41 hours of service!

Some of their staff traveled around Monroe picking up items and dropping them off at the appropriate locations. They were also onsite at our Monroe office location helping sort and organize items from the Goods Drive.

Many of the Ascent volunteers walked around to talk to the hurricane evacuees to provide mental support to them.

Whatever need we had, these volunteers showed up with willingness and hearts to serve the people in our community.

Ascent Healthcare, thank you for showing your community what it means to #LIVEUNITED!

Be sure to tune in to Facebook most Fridays for a VolunteerUNITED spotlight!
