Fourth Grade:
Pivot to Distance Learning until February 18
Families of Fourth Graders,

One of our fourth grade teachers has tested positive for the virus that causes COVID-19. The teacher has asked that we share that she has felt light symptoms since late last week, which she believed were due to seasonal allergies. When she started feeling worse today, she immediately took the test.

Our health team has called the families of the students in this particular classroom, and those students have been counseled to quarantine.

The rest of our fourth grade students do not need to quarantine. There was no close contact.

However, fourth grade teachers will need to quarantine at home for 14 days due to close contact.

Since our teachers will be teaching from home, fourth graders will need to pivot to distance learning until February 18. (Note that February 12 is asynchronous learning, and so students will already be at home. February 15 is a student holiday).

We thank you for your flexibility as we move to distance learning over the next two weeks.

Look for an email from teachers with more information about the pivot. Information will also be added into their google classroom.

  • The request for temporary distance learning does not need to be filled out for this pivot. However, if siblings will transition to distance learning for this same period, please fill out the form for those siblings. They do not have to transition, but we recognize that it might be necessary for individual families.

Please reach out if you have questions or concerns. We look forward to welcoming your children back on campus February 18.

Thank you,

Melissa Reese
Primary Principal
Frequently Asked Question on when to quarantine:

Does (A), a close contact of or someone living with > (B) someone who has come in close contact with > (C) a person who has tested positive, need to quarantine?

Answer: A does not need to quarantine (unless B begins to show symptoms or tests positive). A and B should both monitor for symptoms.
We rely on parents and staff to notify our nurse's office with positive cases or probable cases. Learn more about our reporting process.
