Advocate for the Inclusion of the
Tribal Nutrition Improvement Act in
the Child Nutrition Reauthorization

On Wednesday, April 10, the Senate Agriculture Committee will hold a hearing to begin its discussion on the Child Nutrition Reauthorization. To ensure the bill advances the interests of Indian Country, the Native Farm Bill Coalition encourages members to advocate for the reintroduction and inclusion of the Tribal Nutrition Improvement Act in the Child Nutrition Reauthorization.

Specifically, the bill makes tribal governments eligible entities to directly administer the:
  • National School Lunch Program;
  • School Breakfast Program;
  • Summer Food Service Program; and
  • Child and Adult Care Food Program.

Additionally, the bill provides start up and administrative funds for the operation of these programs.
