TAKE ACTION TODAY TO EXPAND LOW INCOME HOUSING TAX CREDIT

Dear California affordable housing advocate:

Congress is in the final stages of crafting an omnibus spending bill for 2020. Leaders will likely make final decisions by Sunday. This is our last opportunity to get the provisions of the Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act (AHCIA),  H.R. 3077   (see  summary  of the AHCIA here), included in the legislation. Among other things, these provisions would increase the amount of 9% Low Income Housing Tax Credits and set a floor for the 4% tax credit rate, which would lead to the construction and preservation of tens of thousands of more affordable rental homes in California. The AHCIA is co-sponsored by a bipartisan group of 192 House members, including a majority of Democratic members.

Please contact your Representatives immediately and ask them to ask Speaker Pelosi to prioritize the AHCIA provisions for inclusion in the 2020 spending bill. If you or your organization have a direct relationship with Speaker Pelosi, now is also the time to ask her to prioritize the AHCIA provisions for inclusion in the 2020 spending bill by emailing her tax staff Katherine.Monge@mail.house.gov.
