Public Evangelism
by Allan Parker
Do you still believe in Public Evangelism? Does it still work nowadays? Do millennials even show interest in attending? In this video, Allan Parker shows how millennials perceive Adventist public evangelism, their views of the antichrist and what motivational or contextual factors might have influenced these perceptions. Compassion Weekend is every second weekend of the month in North America and a time for us to join and be intentional about tackling the needs of our community such as hunger, thirst, abuse, slavery, human trafficking, refugee crisis, violence, depression, and disease in our world, by showing compassion to the people around us. Also, join us in our Compassion 10 Million initiative, which is an opportunity for each Adventist in North America to serve within their churches, their homes, and their communities as the eyes, heart, hands, and feet of Jesus. Learn more about Compassion 10 Million here.
The best relationship is a relationship with Jesus, and many still believe in it. Give yourself to Jesus, now is the time. #hopefornewyork
This evening I was so delighted that Jaqui, one of my students, made a decision to get baptized. It’s a great way to finish off a crazy semester. So thankful to see her like a sponge growing to love Jesus more and more. Isn’t that what Adventist education all about?!
Today I had the privilege of enjoying a day of celebration and blessing at #HainesCity. I congratulate my friend Pr. Rafa, lay pastors José Escobar, Elco Márquez and Fermin for the excellent initiative of doing church in an innovative way and serving the community.

More than 1,000 families in the community received food boxes. Thank you to all the church district leaders and volunteers who served and worked to bless many.
You've heard of drive-in services, but what about drive-in baptisms? Allegheny East Conference's Emmanuel Worship Center in Alexandria, Va., recently hosted a drive-in baptism and communion!

-Compassion Weekend - December 12-13, 2020
December 25 – Christmas

Are you wondering how your church should navigate the Christmas season during the pandemic? In a year where everything is different, how should we handle our church's holiday events? You can lead your church through the holidays this year in a way that brings connection and growth.

1.     Create connections through Small Groups - people need connection, especially during these times of quarantine and isolation. So why not have a week of prayer in your small groups through Zoom before Christmas? People better connect when they are involved in small groups. You can provide a bible study about the Nativity to be used by all, or you can watch a series of videos about it together.

2.     Compassion Christmas - Invite your church members to donate food and toys to be distributed to low-income families in your community. Way too many people have lost their jobs during this Covid-19 pandemic and they need help to go through the holidays. Coordinate with your pathfinders to deliver the gifts along with a card and maybe some joyful songs.

3.     Adjust church-wide events to pandemic protocols - Perhaps you can have your Christmas Eve service outdoors with a walking experience, worship and sheep. Maybe you can plan a Drive-in program with some songs and a sermon, maybe you can have a live online experience. We can't be together, but we certainly can be creative and plan a beautiful experience to your members, visitors and neighborhood.

4.     Drive-thru Lights & Hot Chocolate - If your church has a good parking lot, having a drive-thru Lights & Hot Chocolate might be a good idea. Decorate your parking lot with Christmas lights and invite members and friends to drive through as they are offered hot chocolate and cookies. Having your youth sing carols as people drive by will add an extra touch to the program.

5.     Virtual Christmas Service - Announce and promote a day for your Virtual Christmas Service. Prepare some beautiful songs and testimonies about how people have been coping throughout the pandemic and take the opportunity to share the story of the Savior who brings us hope for a better future.

North America Wants Your Articles, Photos, & Videos
In the months to come we would like to publish, celebrate, pray for, and spread what God is doing through you. North America would love to see your evangelism and outreach stories, photos, and videos.

Send us articles, photos, and videos of your Best Practices in Evangelism & Outreach (traditional & innovative): Small Groups, Compassion initiatives, Church Planting, Public Evangelism, outreach in public university campuses, life-changing stories of churches who love people and grow organically, youth and young adult outreach, health fairs, community outreach initiatives, and anything that has to do with Reaching, Retaining, and Reclaiming North America with a lifestyle and a message of Compassion, Hope, and Wholeness.

When writing, keep in mind that we are looking for practice more than theory. The Why, the What, the Who, and the How to, are vital for Pastors and Churches who will want to adapt and duplicate your initiatives and plans in their setting (keep articles between 300-700 words) and submit to cpmacena@hotmail.com
