Active Hope:
Discovering our Reasons for Hope

Thursday,
July 22nd

1:00 pm -
3:00 pm ET

In this time of uncertainty, we need more than ever to explore what gives us hope and how we can step forward and take action for the future that we desire. This two-hour webinar is based on the work of deep ecologist and elder Joanna Macy, and grounded in the Spiritual Eldering work of Rabbi Zalman Schachter Shalomi.

Many of us fear that if we talk about our difficult, scary feelings we might get stuck in despair. Yet we know that keeping things to ourselves does not release them but actually gives them more power. As we are emerging from this pandemic -- how do we develop a vision for the future?

To explore Active Hope we move through four stages: feeling our gratitude for life, honoring our pain for the world, discovering new ways of seeing based on the interconnectedness of all life, and then going forth empowered by what we have discovered within ourselves.

Join us for this webinar led by Lynne Iser, a member of Sage-ing International’s Council of Honored Sages.
Materials are not specific to any religious denomination, but serve to enhance spiritual maturity for persons who embrace any faith or humanistic practice.
Facilitator Lynne Iser is an “elder activist” motivated by her love for her children and the beauty of our world.  She was the founding Director of the Spiritual Eldering Institute, where she learned about the opportunities and blessings of becoming an elder in her work with Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi; and trained with Joanna Macy to facilitate her work.

In addition to teaching at conferences and retreat centers she serves as President of the Elders Action Network – which is growing a movement of elders addressing the social and environmental challenges we all face. She lives in Philadelphia, with her partner Mordechai Liebling. Together they have five children and a brand new granddaughter.
