Very Active Hurricane Season Predicted

Community Collaborations International (CCI) has been responding to disasters in the US and Puerto Rico since Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast in 2005. Over the years we have deployed thousands of student volunteers and built strong partnerships with other disaster relief agencies to support and efficiently deploy our volunteer teams where they are needed most.

Colorado State University's tropical meteorology project team has recently released an updated forecast for the 2024 hurricane season, predicting a significant increase in storm activity. According to the latest outlook, we can expect 25 named storms, 12 of which will become hurricanes, and six predicted to reach Category 3 status or stronger.

Given this alarming outlook, it is crucial for us to mobilize and prepare for the potential impact, particularly in vulnerable regions like Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico's unique challenges require a concerted effort to ensure effective recovery and resilience against future storms.

In addition to Puerto Rico, we will also need teams for our Domestic Disaster Relief Projects. We expect to have teams in various locations along the US Gulf Coast. We will be announcing project locations in our newsletter in September based on community need.
