Shout-out to Jackson in Action for being awarded a Small Dollar Big Impact grant from AARP to purchase snowshoes and poles to launch a new snowshoe checkout program! This will increase access to equipment for winter sports in Jackson County. Read the press release here.

World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims
November 20 was World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims. Every years, thousands of people die needlessly from traffic violence. The City of Madison set up a memorial display to honor the 57 people who have died on Madison roads in the last 5 years. The Vision Zero stakeholder task force held a press conference with speeches from Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway, Susan Gaeddert from 1000 Friends of Wisconsin, and Harald Kliems from Madison Bikes. Our November 30 webinar was about the future of electric buses (both school and transit) in Wisconsin with guest speakers Susan Mudd from the Environmental Law & Policy Center and Trevor Jung from the City of Racine. You can watch a recording of the webinar here.
Funding Opportunities
AARP is accepting applications for the Small Dollar Big Impact grant (up to $1000) through December 6, 2022.

Active People, Healthy Nation is accepting applications for the Walkability Virtual Academy through January 13, 2023. Click here to learn more and read the RFA.

The Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin is accepting applications for the Go Outside fund through December 31, 2022. Amounts of $100-500 will be awarded to projects supporting students K-12 that engage youth in outdoor learning experiences. Learn more here.

Applications are now open for the latest round of Road to Zero Community Traffic Safety Grants. Funded by NHTSA, these grants support projects, programs, and research that put the Road to Zero strategy into practice. The deadline is January 6, 2023. Learn more and apply here.

The U.S. Department of Transportation has announced the Thriving Communities Program. The TCP facilitates the planning and development of transportation and community revitalization programs for historically under-resourced communities. Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) is offering $25,000-50,000 for placemaking in local communities through the Vibrant Spaces Grant. Deadline is January 31, 2023. Learn more and apply.
