Save the Date! Active Wisconsin network call April 5
The next Active Wisconsin network call is Wednesday, April 5, 2023 from 10:30am-12noon. Active Wisconsin network calls are a great opportunity to hear from other communities about their successes and challenges and learn about our work around the state. A more detailed agenda will be shared closer to the meeting date.

Transit Equity Day is February 4, 2023
Transit Equity Day is February 4, 2023. Held in honor of Rosa Parks' birthday, Transit Equity Day calls on communities nationwide to acknowledge that transit is a human right and that everyone deserves access to safe, reliable transit. Virtual Equity Summit February 7-9, 2023

We examined climate plans, comprehensive plans, and transportation plans across 25 jurisdictions in five states to understand how different plans can work together to maximize benefits for communities and the climate.

WisDOT accepting feedback on engagement for the Active Transportation Plan
The Engagement Action Plan (EAP) for the Wisconsin Active Transportation Plan 2050 (ATP) is available for review and comment through February 26, 2023. The EAP is the guiding document to inform stakeholders how the department will share information and gather feedback on the ATP. 


Funding Opportunities
AARP is accepting applications for the Small Dollar Big Impact grant (up to $1000) returns in February, 2023!

Applications for the AARP Community Challenge Grants are open until March 15, 2023. Click here to learn more and register for a Q&A webinar in early February.

Bloomberg Philanthropies is accepting applications for Public Art Challenge grants through February 15, 2023. Cities with a population of at least 30,000 can apply for amounts up to $1 million. Click here to learn more and apply.

The Federal Transit Administration has announced the availability of nearly $1.7 billion in FY23 funding to support state and local efforts to buy or modernize buses, improve bus facilities, and support workforce development. The GroMoreGood Grassroots Gardening Grant from Scotts Miracle Gro is offering awards of $500-1000 to garden programs for kids across the United States. Deadline is February 15, 2023. Learn more and apply here.

The U.S. Department of Transportation has announced the Thriving Communities Program. The TCP facilitates the planning and development of transportation and community revitalization programs for historically under-resourced communities. WisDOT is accepting applications for the STARS (Safe Transportation Alternative for Rural Schools) program through March 24, 2023. Priority will be given to non-urbanized areas with a population of 5,000 or less. Learn more here.
