1000 Friends of Wisconsin was awarded a grant from Center on Wisconsin Strategy (COWS) in partnership with two Green Tier Legacy Communities (GTLC) to improve community health by promoting pedestrian and bicycle access for children and families, specifically by addressing active transportation gaps to schools and parks. Join us for the first webinar of 2023! 1000 Friends of Wisconsin partnered with Stevens Point and Wisconsin Rapids to assess active transportation routes to schools and parks in their respective cities. Over the course of 6 months, 1000 Friends Community Programs Director worked with city planners from Stevens Point and Wisconsin Rapids to identify key public locations, plan walk/roll audits with community participants, and develop detailed recommendations for infrastructure improvements. They present their findings in this webinar.

Applications are now open for the latest round of Road to Zero Community Traffic Safety Grants. Funded by NHTSA, these grants support projects, programs, and research that put the Road to Zero strategy into practice. The deadline is January 6, 2023. Learn more and apply here.

WisDOT is accepting applications for the STARS (Safe Transportation Alternative for Rural Schools) program through March 24, 2023. Priority will be given to non-urbanized areas with a population of 5,000 or less. Learn more here.
