New Program: Community Transportation Academy
1000 Friends is excited to introduce a new program, the Community Transportation Academy in La Crosse, WI!

The Community Transportation Academy is a free ten-week course that provides skills and knowledge to advocate for local transportation planning that works for everyone. The first Community Transportation Academy will be held in La Crosse, Wisconsin, in Winter/Spring 2023 and taught by Community Programs Director Susan Gaeddert.

Funding Opportunities
AARP is accepting applications for the Small Dollar Big Impact grant (up to $1000) through November 10, 2022.

The Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin is accepting applications for the Go Outside fund through December 31, 2022. Amounts of $100-500 will be awarded to projects supporting students K-12 that engage youth in outdoor learning experiences. Learn more here.

Run for Good, the charitable foundation of Saucony, is accepting grant applications up to $10,000 to support running programs for children. Apply here.

The Sand County Foundation is accepting applications for the Pollinator Habitat Grant Program through November 18, 2022. $1000 cash grants and plant materials are available. High school teachers engaging students in hands-on pollinator habitat projects are eligible to apply. Click here to read more.

The U.S. Department of Transportation has announced the Thriving Communities Program. The TCP facilitates the planning and development of transportation and community revitalization programs for historically under-resourced communities. The Wisconsin Environmental Justice and Infrastructure Initiative is awarding grants of $1000-$10,000 for projects that engage community members, develop capacity, and support actionable Environmental Justice advocacy in Wisconsin. Deadline to apply is November 4, 2022. Read more and apply here.
