March 2019

To: All Home Therapies QIA and Transplant QIA  Facility Staff, Patient SMES and Stakeholders
March is INNOVATION month
We are off to a strong start with these QIAs, and for March there will be National NCC LAN Webinars (details below), and a challenge to you and your staff to be INNOVATIVE and "think outside the box"  in how you educate your staff and patients about Home Therapies and Transplant Treatment Options. (Pro tip - the ESRD NCC LAN events are considered staff education activities!)

The Network's  March Innovation:
Streamlining for less paperwork: We are partnering with the Patient Services Department to include their Monthly Patient Engagement facility assessment in the Monthly Status Report to reduce burden and superfluous data collection.

Please review the March MSR worksheet (PDF)  to see how you are being asked to report on March activities, and submit your answers online by March 31st.

*Please note that the you are only required to report for the QIAs that you are enrolled in, but also, please feel free to utilize, share or comment on any other QIA interventions that you may be interested in.

#2. Staff Education/Knowledge Assessment

MSR Education Reporting:
Please discuss the results (# of staff members queried, % staff that knew all four treatment options) of this assessment in your March QAPI meeting, and report assessment results on the March MSR.

Further Actions: If more than 5% of your staff cannot name the four treatment options for ESRD, in April plan a future educational event/in-service on patent treatment options for all clinical and non-clinical staff. ( Pro-tip the ESRD NCC LAN meeting recordings are a free educational event with f ree CE offered for watching).
