Christy "K" (Christy Knowings) began her acting career when she was just a kid in Spike Lee's "Crooklyn" alongside her twin brother, Chris, who co-starred in the film. After an acting role on FOX's hit show, "New York Undercover", and some modeling, she later joined the super-star cast of Nickelodeon's award winning show, "All That", where she and her cast received the KIDS' CHOICE award 3 years in a row for BEST SHOW. With comedic timing and nearly 60 different voice dialects and impersonations under her belt, she worked closely with Nick Cannon and Kenan Thompson among other major celebrities and recording artists like Missy Elliot, Beyoncé, Busta Rhymes, Justin Timberlake, and Mary J. Blige. She was also one of the stars on Nickelodeons' ever popular show, "Figure it Out". With a 4 octave vocal range, Christy began training as a classic vocalist shortly after her success on Nickelodeon. This landed her a hefty scholarship to the Berklee College of Music, where she was compared often (both vocally and physically) to one of her idols, Eartha Kitt. Christy studied privately in the styles of Pop, Jazz, Opera, and Musical Theatre. She began singing with fellow actor/singer Greg Cipes ("Teen Titans", "True Blood") in a reggae band, where they performed at events for celebs like Hilary Duff (for MTV's reality show, "24/7"). She fondly remembers seeing buddy Meagan Good after one performance, while the two greeted each other with huge hugs and memories from their days on Nickelodeon. Soon after, Christy pursued her own music career, where she successfully landed a spot on the soundtrack for the film "Mother and Child", with her first song written for voice and piano, "Being". During this period, Christy performed for the mayor of Los Angeles, and other members of California's congress. She also formed her own band, and performed all around Hollywood with her self written, piano-based material. Christy has also been featured in other ensembles, including a hip-hop orchestra, where her amazing rap, soul, and tantalizing vocal freestyle skills were honed and refined. As a writer/director, Christy K has developed several self-produced projects. Many under the 7-year tutelage and apprenticeship of her very best friend and mentor, WGA, Oscar and Golden Globe Award nominee, Kevin Alexis Jarre, (writer of "Tombstone", "Glory", "The Devils' Own", "The Mummy", "Rocky"; son of the infamous Maurice Alexis Jarre (who scored classic films like "Ghost", "Lawrence of Arabia", and "Dr. Zhivago") directing alongside Charlton Heston. Christy holds dear Kevin's heartfelt praise he gave her one evening in their Santa Monica home, (as they worked together on one her projects) "You write like I do, hon." Christy later became one of the faces of the most famous children's shows on television, "Sesame Street". Accompanying her twin brother, 2-time Emmy Award nominee, Chris Knowings, (who currently stars on the show) her dream of starring on a major show with her twin brother became a reality. As a kid, (beginning at four) Christy danced professionally for New York City's The Dance Theatre of Harlem as a modern and ballet dancer. Today she has expanded her varied choreography skills to hip-hop, African dance, and freestyle dance moves where she is often compared to another idol of hers, Michael Jackson. Now, Christy K, through many transitions, has evolved into a serious force to be reckoned with - Actor, Comedienne, Vocalist, Musician, Model, Dancer, Director, and Writer. She fully intends to move gracefully, yet forcefully into the next page of her electric and inspiring story - Superstardom.
