Adaptive Recreation Newsletter: March 2021
Happy March Everyone!

Thanks so much to our participants and families for supporting our virtual programs over the past year. We are so lucky to have such an engaged, excited, and active group of exercisers, painters, writers, singers, yogis, dancers, and just FUN people who join our classes and programs on a daily basis. Special thanks to Caitlin and April for their imagination and perseverance! Thanks also to Sue, Karla, Sallie, Dave, Dani and all our volunteers and instructors.

As many of you know, our facilities have not yet opened and we do not have a definite date for when that may happen. We are still in a hiring freeze and limited as to group capacity. Recreation is not hosting any indoor programs.

As we look toward the summer (at this point in the pandemic) we do not foresee any in-person or on-site camps, classes, trips, or special events.  Based on higher risk factors in our population and limited options in terms of field trips, facilities, and social distancing we feel virtual programs, at least through late summer, are the best option. It is disappointing for us, as I know it is for you. If this changes over the next two months, of course I will let you know. Please let me know if you have questions or concerns.

CRAAG has launched the 2021 CRAAG Housing, Supports and Services Survey. CRAAG created this survey in hopes of expanding housing, supports and services for adults with autism and other developmental disabilities.
They are asking students in the last two years of high school, adult self-advocates, and families with adult loved ones with autism and other developmental disabilities to take the survey. The purpose is twofold: 1) to learn as much as possible about individual needs, hopes, and concerns; and 2) to assess interest in networking with others who have similar needs. If there is enough interest in networking with other self-advocates and families through CRAAG, they feel confident that they can make tangible progress on the housing, supports and services available in our community.
