As we head into beautiful June days here in the Northland, we are reminded of just how powerful a strong, tight-knit community can be. When a local family is facing the unimaginable reality of their child’s life-threatening illness, they shouldn’t have to navigate it alone.

Because of your incredible support over the years, the Northern Lights Foundation has been able to help those families by providing unrestricted grants to ease the financial burden. These grants allow parents to cover travel for medical care, buy groceries, pay mortgages, or simply keep their households running during a crisis.

Together, our community has helped Northern Lights Foundation raise more than $2 million dollars to support over 400 local families during some of their most difficult moments.

As we head into peak summer event season, we are looking to grow our Charity Partner Program and connect with local businesses, clubs, and organizations looking to make a meaningful impact in our community.

Seamless Philanthropy: Championing the Events You Already Host

Many of you work at or own local businesses, lead corporate teams, or belong to civic groups, leagues, and clubs. We want to show you how seamless it is to partner with NLF by leveraging the events, programs, and structures your organization already has in place.

Our partnership model is simple: You host the event, and we will bring the inspiration and gratitude.

If your company, club, or organization designates the Northern Lights Foundation as your charity recipient for an initiative, our Founder, Executive Director, or a Board Member will gladly attend to speak about our mission, share the direct impact of your generosity, and personally thank your guests. This allows your team to focus on your event, while we handle communicating the meaning behind the funds raised.

Beyond fundraising, these partnerships create opportunities for team connection, community engagement, and positive local impact.

Here are a few ways local organizations are successfully teaming up with us:

• Existing Corporate & Community Events: Do you already host an annual golf scramble, BBQ, corporate 5K, bike ride, or a summer block party? Simply add an NLF donation bucket or pledge a portion of ticket sales from the event you are already planning. (For example, a local bike ride raised more than $5,000 for our families just by turning an existing day of fun into a fundraiser!)

• Corporate Giving & Foundation Grants: Does your employer have an established corporate giving program, a foundation grant application cycle, or a matching gift program for employees? Naming NLF as a beneficiary of these structured corporate funds can completely change the trajectory for local families. We’ve been incredibly blessed by partnerships ranging from foundation grants to company donations.

• "Designated Week or Month" Campaigns: Retailers, restaurants, and breweries can choose a specific timeframe in the summer to donate a percentage of proceeds from a specific product or menu item. It brings community members to your doors and crucial funding to our families, utilizing your everyday business operations.

• Sponsorships: The Northern Lights Foundation has three annual, much-loved events you can always sponsor if you’d like to support our mission without hosting an event of your own. Our annual Children’s Charity Gala, Charity Softball Game, and Cowbell events are our core fundraising events and each offer sponsorship opportunities.
