Next Middle School Seminar with 5th-7th Graders
The next middle school seminar will be on gender relations: how to interact with boys and girls in a respectful manner within the Islamic context. The seminar will actually be held with 5th graders as well this time and will be led by Hasan Gopalani and Ms. Kawther, the Islamic Studies teacher. Mr. Gopalani is a professional and mentor in the community who leads multiple youth programs throughout the year. He was also the co-founder and a past teacher of iLeap, a weekend youth program at South Zone masjid, and is currently a teacher at a weekend leadership training program for high school youth.  The seminar will take place on Thursday, May 28.

Middle School Information Handout
Thank you to the 5th grade parents for coming to the middle school transition meeting. By the end of this week, we will be emailing out a detailed handout reviewing information that was discussed in the meeting for you to look over with your spouse, insha'Allah.

PTA Room Moms and Nominations for 2015-2016 & PTA Meeting
If you would like to nominate anyone for a PTA officer position or if you would like to volunteer to be a room mom (or dad!) for next year's classes, please email [email protected]. The responsibility of a room mom/dad is to be the go-to parent for the homeroom teacher in the event of needing parent help for organizing class activities, field trips, lesson plans, etc. The room mom/dad does not necessarily have to be the person committing to all of those duties, but is the lead in coordinating them among the rest of the parents in the class. The possible officer positions for the PTA are president, vice president, treasurer, and secretary. The president oversees all activities of the PTA and ensures their following of the school philosophy. The vice president assists the president in all of his/her duties. The treasurer manages the funds collected and issues reimbursements as needed. The secretary is in charge of meeting minutes and record keeping of the PTA's activities. Also, the next PTA meeting will be on Thursday, May 21 at 1:30pm. This meeting is for planning out end of year events. Elections for next year will take place next week. The date for the elections is to be confirmed.

PTA Lunch Ordering for June
If you had any trouble ordering lunch for your child for Wednesday of the last week of school, please go online to order again as the technical issue that was occurring on the website has been fixed. Remember that lunch orders for the week of June (which is the last week of school) are due by next Saturday, May 30.

Yearbook Release Party Updates
The yearbook release party is taking place next Wednesday, May 27 at 3:10pm and will last until 4:30pm.
