Casemaker transitioning to Fastcase Legal Research
Casemaker, the legal research tool provided to ISBA members as part of their membership, merged with Fastcase in the beginning of this year. We recently learned that as part of this merger, Casemaker and Fastcase now intend to consolidate platforms in order to invest their full attention, customer service, innovation and security resources into Fastcase. In doing so, they plan to sunset Casemaker for Indiana users this August.

Fastcase offers a number of enhancements to Casemaker, including more robust databases and searches and an interface that has been described by attorney users as a more intuitive and streamlined. While we recognize that it can be daunting to learn a new platform, we are excited that our members will have access the expanded solutions provided by Fastcase.

If you currently use Casemaker

All ISBA members now have access to Fastcase in addition to Casemaker. We encourage you to start using Fastcase and exploring the platform. To help ease your transition, visit the Fastcase Resource Library where you can access tutorial videos, register for training webinars, and find answers to your questions.

No additional passwords or usernames are required. You can access both research tools through the same webpage you use today. There you will find a landing page where you can continue with Casemaker or dive right into Fastcase.

On Aug. 2, all Casemaker accounts will be converted to Fastcase accounts.

If you have not yet used Casemaker

More than 1.1 million lawyers nationwide have a subscription to Fastcase's legal reserach tools. In addition to primary legal research, users will find more than 750 books, treatises, and journals.
Fastcase also integrates with Docket Alarm's briefs, pleadings, and motions database and syncs with America's most popular legal research app, on iOS and Android.

Access to Fastcase is included with your ISBA membership -- Begin exploring the tool to see how it can aid your practice. Click the button below and log in using your ISBA username and password (email us at [email protected] if you need assistance).

Advance Directive for Health Care Decisions now available in IndianaDocs
ISBA’s IndianaDocs Committee has added an Advance Directive for Health Care Decisions to its library of automated document assembly templates.

The new Advance Directive was drafted and generously donated for the Committee’s use by ISBA member Jeff Dible. Jeff worked tirelessly on behalf of ISBA to secure enactment of new IC Chapter 16-36-7, effective July 1, 2021, which allows a living will declaration, health care power of attorney and appointment of health care representative to be combined in a single document.
