Dear Friends and Supporters,
As we observe Alcohol Awareness Month this April, we renew our commitment to raising awareness about the impact of alcohol use/misuse and supporting those affected by addiction. It’s a time to reflect on the importance of prevention, early intervention, and recovery. During this month, we encourage you to engage in open conversations about the risks of alcohol use, the importance of early intervention, and the value of treatment and recovery. I’m also thrilled to share two exciting developments:
We’re proud to announce the Michigan Innovations in Addiction Care through Research & Education (MI-ACRE) Advancing Addiction Care Award, supporting community-driven addiction work. This award will help foster innovative solutions and initiatives that address addiction care in Michigan and beyond.
Additionally, Dr. Amelia Mueller-Williams, one of our NIAAA T32 postdoctoral research fellows, has been awarded a T-32 and Research Track Scholar Award to launch a study in partnership with American Indian Health and Family Services of Detroit. This project will focus on screening for substance use and suicide risk among American Indian and Alaska Native youth, along with examining their social media experiences.
As we move forward, let us continue to work together to raise awareness, expand support networks, and drive meaningful change in addiction care and prevention. The fight against addiction is ongoing, and every effort counts.
Thank you for your continued support.
Warm regards,
Frederic C. Blow, Ph.D.
