D. R. Domenichini Construction Newsletter

A birthday shout out this month to our Project Manager, Scott Calloway!!

For the 3rd year in a row we have been voted the Best Contractor in Morgan Hill! Thank you to everyone who voted through the Morgan Hill Times contest.  We are very proud of this achievement and appreciate your support.
The way your house looks from the street can add thousands to its value, commanding a higher price and also taking less time to sell.  If you're looking to put your house on the market, or just looking to give your house a fresh new look for your own enjoyment, there are a few things we recommend considering when it comes to curb appeal.

Fix/replace the roof
Sometimes all it takes to make a roof look "like new" is a good cleaning.  Removing dirt, moss, algae, etc. can make a huge difference.  The roof can be one of the first things that an appraiser assesses, so any missing, curled or faded shingles are only going to lessen the value of your home.  Don't forget about the downspouts and gutters as well.  Also, be sure to take a look at your neighbor's roofs.  If they have been well maintained or recently replaced, it may only make yours look worse off than it really is.

Freshen up the paint
Buyers and appraisers instantly notice the value in a new exterior paint job.  While it may seem to be an expensive and time consuming project, it's one that definitely pays off and can give your home that much needed facelift.

Exterior accents
In addition to new paint, it's also good to consider rock or stone accents to the exterior of your home.  These could be added to the entire front of the house or sometimes just around the garage is all you need.  Even minor accents can add just the right amount of character to draw the attention of a home buyer, such as new house numbers and a new mailbox.

Spruce up the entryway
The doorways to a home are another way to create a welcoming feel.  Consider painting the front door a bold color and adding casing to frame it in and really make it pop.  Tile is a nice way to spruce up the front steps and a new stone walkway can be a great addition as well.  The garage door also makes a significant difference to the curb appeal of a home, especially for homes with a two or three car garage that faces the street.  There are a number of different styles to choose from and installation can sometimes take less than a day to complete.
First impressions are important, and when it comes to home buyers, that first look at the outside could make or break whether they decide to go inside.  Depending on the condition of your home, the cost to add some curb appeal might not be as bad as you're thinking.  Talk to your local contractor and/or designer to discuss the best options for you.

This kitchen remodel below involved re-locating some of the appliances, which helped create better functionality to the overall kitchen.

We were able to transform this kitchen and expand the space by extending the countertop, which also allowed for a lot more storage space!

Removing the upper cabinets and adding an island really opened up this kitchen. What a transfrormation!!

Law of Mechanical Repair- After your hands become coated with grease, your nose will begin to itch and you'll have to pee.

Law of Probability -- The probability of being watched is directly proportional to the stupidity of your act.

Law of Random Numbers - If you dial a wrong number, you never get a busy signal and someone always answers.

Supermarket Law - As soon as you get in the smallest line, the cashier will have to call for help.

Variation Law - If you change lines (or traffic lanes),the one you were in always moves faster than the one you are now in.

Law of Immersed Bodies - When the body is fully immersed in water, the telephone rings.

Law of Timing - When you try to prove to someone that a machine won't work, it will.

Law of Biomechanics - The severity of the itch is inversely proportional to the reach.

Law of the Past-times- At any event, the people whose seats are furthest from the aisle, always arrive last. They are the ones who will leave their seats several times to go for food, beer, or the toliet and who leave early before the end of the performance is over. The folks in the aisle seats come early, never move once, have long gangly legs or big bellies and stay to the bitter end of the performance. The aisle people also are very surly folk.

The Law of Relaxation - As soon as you sit down to a cup of coffee, your boss will ask you to do something which will last until the coffee is cold.

Murphy's Law of Lockers - If there are only 2 people in a locker room, they will have adjacent lockers.

Law of Physical Surfaces - The chances of an open-faced jam sandwich landing face down on a floor are directly correlated to the newness and cost of the carpet or rugh.

Law of Logical Argument - Anything is possible if you don't know what you are talking about.

Law of Apparel - If the clothes fit, they're ugly.

Law of Public Speaking - A closed mouth gathers no feet.

Law of Commerical Marketing Strategy - As soon as you find a product that you really like, they will stop making it.
