Addis Ababa: More Than a Connection
Firsthand insights from MNT Travel on navigating flights, connections, and cultural experiences in Ethiopia for mission teams.
When Ethiopian Airlines invited MNT Travel to experience its nonstop Washington Dulles–Addis Ababa route, our Operations Manager, Gretchen, got to see firsthand how a transit stop can become part of the journey.
Addis Ababa is Ethiopian Airlines’ main hub, connecting travelers from five U.S. gateways—Washington Dulles, Newark, JFK, Atlanta, and Chicago—to destinations across Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. For mission teams and humanitarian organizations, that network can make reaching multiple locations across the region easier. The nonstop flight from Dulles takes about 13 hours.
Travelers heading to Africa for humanitarian or faith-based work may also qualify for an additional free checked bag on the outbound flight, for a total of three bags when departing from one of the airline’s five U.S. gateways. That can be helpful for teams carrying supplies and equipment; check with MNT when planning your trip.
