We received a request from American Bus Association (ABA) legislative team to reach out to our members.
As you may know, Chairman Cardin and Senator Wicker are leading an effort to develop a bipartisan targeted relief package to help small businesses still struggling as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
We understand that discussions are ongoing, but we are thankful that based on what we have heard, they are planning to include relief for the motorcoach, school bus, and passenger vessel industries with additional CERTS funding, as well as a much-needed technical tax correction for the CERTS program.
Our industry has already suffered catastrophic losses because of the pandemic, furloughing thousands of highly skilled workers that are not easily replaced, and unfortunately, the emergence of the Omicron variant has shown us that the pandemic is not over. We are truly appreciative of the $2 billion in industry relief provided for the CERTS program in December 2020, but the program was significantly oversubscribed, and we desperately need additional help now.
