Dear Members of our Tulane Hillel Family,

We are writing to address the recent antisemitic article written by a member of the Tulane community that defends Ye’s (Kanye West’s) antisemitic, absurd, and hateful beliefs. Tulane Hillel condemns all forms of hate speech, including antisemitism, racism, bigotry, and discrimination of any manner.

Here at Tulane, Jews are welcomed, seen, and celebrated as a part of the broader campus community. We were shocked and disappointed to learn of this article that shared unfounded, uneducated, and hateful words about our community. And, as we know all too well, words carry weight.

While there will always be discrimination and hate in our world, our job at Hillel is to ensure a safe and welcoming space for Jewish students, and for all students. We are steadfast in our commitment to fostering Jewish identity and community - without fear - here on campus. There is no place for antisemitism or hate at Tulane.

We are incredibly grateful and proud to be a part of Tulane University and its commitment to creating an inclusive, equitable, and safe environment for all students by standing up against hateful and antisemitic language in all forms.

We will be holding a support circle on antisemitism on Wednesday, January 18th from 4-5 pm CT here at 912 Broadway St. In the meantime, please know that if you or your student are feeling upset or anxious about this situation, we are here to support you.

Our team is ready with open ears and open arms. If you have concerns or further questions, I can be reached at gubitz@tulane.edu.
