#1.) David and Daniela Visit Six Lives
The Stories of Henry VIII's Queens
at the National Portrait Gallery
The Astrology of Finger Rings
in Royal Paintings
"Having been a practicing astrologer for over 25 years I had some clues to offer, and I can share these with you here."
These are the words of David Bennett in Understanding-Jewellery.com
Bennett and Daniela Mascetti team up in a look at some very interesting paintings - the wives of Henry VIII.
"In the ancient world the custom of wearing a number of rings at once is of quite an early date. Both Plato and Aristophanes mentioned the wearing of rings as a frequent custom. While Seneca spoke thus: ‘we adorn our fingers with rings and a jewel is displayed on every joint’.
"In astrology the heavens are divided up into twelve ‘mansions’ or houses. The human hand with its four fingers, each with three phalanges, offers therefore the opportunity to attribute correspondences between these twelve digital elements and the twelve signs of the zodiac and the twelve mansions."

Adele is Engaged
... and Wearing a Very Large Pear Shape Diamond!
Who Wore What Jewels
| |
|
LauraLee
WhoWoreWhatJewels.com
LauraLee has spotted a large diamond on Adele's ring finger. Must be from sports agent Rich Paul. No details on the diamond other than a mention in the Sun that it's a 4-carater. But from the pictures, we see that it's an elegant four-prong setting, on a thin single-line micro pavé band.
Wait - she's wearing it on her left hand. Are they married?
[Knowing that there are some countries where the wedding ring is worn on the right hand, we did a quick internet search. India, Germany, and Russia seem to be consistent in our right hand search, with Denmark, Spain, Portugal, Norway, Greece, Poland, and Ukraine also being mentioned. Adele is from London, so we can assume she is signaling she's already married.]

Under the Radar:
Richemont Acquires Vhernier
You Should See What They Create
| |
|
Richemont is pleased to announce that it has reached an agreement to acquire 100% of Vhernier S.p.A. ("Vhernier"), the distinctive Italian jewellery Maison, in a private transaction.
Maybe you've seen the announcement, but did you see what they create?
Founded in Valenza, Italy in 1984 and headquartered in Milan, Vhernier was acquired by the Traglio family in 2001.
Design jewelry hand-sculpted in pure Milanese elegance
Vhernier is renowned for the distinctive modern aesthetic of its design jewellery, inspired by the curves of the human body and the essential forms of modern sculpture to create bold sculptural and ergonomic shapes, as well as for the unusual combination of traditional precious metals and gems with unconventional materials such as titanium, bronze and ebony. These characteristics, brought to life by innovative craftmanship, can be seen throughout the Maison’s collections, amongst them Calla and Palloncino.
