Honoring Black History

We are committed to supporting and valuing our Black community members. In honor of Black History Month, we are hosting and participating in learning and teaching moments, along with special events focused on social justice.

  • On CBS New York, K.C. Rondello, MD, University epidemiologist and clinical associate professor in the College of Nursing and Public Health, shared his perspective on vaccinations and younger college students. 
  • On MoneyGeek.com, Rakesh Gupta, associate professor of decision sciences and marketing, weighed in on how to manage credit. 
  • In an op-ed for Faculty Focus, Matthew Wright, PhD, associate professor and chair of physics, wrote about how to work around pandemic limitations to build a sense of togetherness among faculty members and students.
  • On all seven News 12 stations in New York, Connecticut and New Jersey, Mariano Torras, PhD, professor of economics, joined a discussion on the state of the economy, inflation, small businesses and the labor shortage.

Many people have what’s called caution fatigue, where they’re tired of hearing about imminent threats.
In Healthline, Deborah Serani, PsyD, psychologist and senior adjunct professor, explained a recent survey showing that only 39 percent of people think regular life will return in the coming year, down from 61 percent in 2021.
