Fellow CTE Administrators: |
Happy Spring season to all of you! As administrators, we all know and experience the craziness of this time of the school year, as we concurrently focus on finishing up the current school year while planning and preparing for the all-too-soon 2023–24 academic year. My very best to you in these efforts and remind each of you to also take time for yourself and to stay mindful of your work-life balance during these very busy times.
It was terrific to see the strong attendance from the division at the National Policy Seminar, and division representatives just completed the proposal reviews in determining the breakout sessions for next year’s Best Practices & Innovations Conference (Salt Lake City, Utah) and VISION 2023 (Phoenix, Arizona). ACTE received a record number of sessions proposals again this year for our division! Both conferences will be outstanding professional development opportunities, and very appreciative to see the willingness of so many to share their strategies, projects, expertise, and best practices to their CTE administrative colleagues.
Please take the time to review the newsletter items below, which includes an introduction from our Administration Division Fellows (Dr. Tiffany Barney & Dr. Jaime Fiorenza), a link to a recent industry partner webinar on Financial Literacy resources, and a variety of reminders from ACTE.

Introducing the ACTE Administration Division Fellows | |
|
Dr. Jaime Fiorenza
Hello, My name is Dr. Jaime Fiorenza, I am a 2023 ACTE Fellow sponsored by the Administration division of Region V. I currently work in Denver Public Schools in Colorado, as the Director of Career and Technical Education. I applied for this opportunity to further my knowledge of policy in my home state of Colorado, and Nationally as it pertains to CTE. I firmly believe you can make more of a difference with an increase in knowledge of any subject and I wanted to learn more about how policy and law influence the guidelines and rules with which CTE operates nationally and in our state. With this knowledge, I believe I can crosswalk this with our current policies in DPS to see where improvements can be made. This is all to further the opportunities for students to be successful upon graduation from High School. I am excited to continue my learning from other Fellows this year and to learn all I can to move CTE forward. My experience so far has been so rewarding to get to know others from all over the country and to see their passion, like mine, for CTE. I know this journey will be a stepping stone to my next phase with CTE in ACTE and my own district.

Dr. Tiffany Barney
There are some experiences in life where reality far exceeds initial expectations. For me, being a part of the 2023 ACTE Experienced Fellowship is one of them. I am Dr. Tiffany Barney, a fellow sponsored by the Administration Division. I currently serve as the Director of the Cobb Innovation and Technology Academy in Georgia. I initially applied for the fellowship to gain knowledge on how to get more involved with ACTE and better serve GACTE; however, the relationships that have come from the fellowship far exceeded my expectations. The fellowship has afforded me the opportunity to get to know ACTE staff, ACTE board members, and leaders in CTE across the country. This network is priceless. Having these relationships means when I have a question related to my budget, curriculum, policy, or simply need a sounding board to flush out ideas, I have someone to call. In CTE, educators are often singletons so building a reliable network is critical, and being a part of the 2023 ACTE Fellows has helped me expand my network of brilliant and talented educators that believe in CTE just as much as I do.
