Boise, ID --07/31/2017 -- Boise School District is pleased to announce the following administrative appointment, effective the start of the 2017-18 school year.
Tamra Vanegas - Counseling Supervisor
Tamra Vanegas has served Idaho's students since 2004. During that time she has worked as a teacher (West Ada School District - 2004-05), Counselor (West Ada School District - 2004-11); Transition Counselor (Frank Church High School - 2012-13); and School Counselor (North Jr. High - 2013-15 and Horizon Elementary - 2015 to present).
Ms. Vanegas is committed to the District's Vision of preparing each student for success in college, career and citizenship. To that end, she will draw upon her comprehensive experiences as she supports District counselors with the resources and training needed to successfully carry out their responsibilities of preparing students for success in school and beyond. Ms. Vanegas has served on various District committees and has supervised counseling interns in the schools in which she has served, as well as being a new-to-the profession mentor. Ms. Vanegas is a knowledgeable education professional with a thorough understanding of the District's Counseling program. She is a strong leader who builds positive relationships with students, staff, parents and community members. Ms. Vanegas is calm in crisis, organized, kind, and honest. She is passionate about public education.
Ms. Vanegas earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a Minor in Child Development from the University of Idaho and her Master's Degree in Counseling, Master's Certificate in Substance Abuse from Boise State University and is trained as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. She is a licensed counselor and counselor supervisor with the State of Idaho Bureau of Occupational Licenses.
