Administrative Appointments
Boise, ID -- (05/08/2017) -- Boise School District is pleased to announce the following administrative appointments, effective beginning the 2017-18 school year. 

Jessica Cromie -  Assistant Principal, Les Bois Junior High School

Jessica Cromie began her Idaho public school teaching career eleven years ago.  That's when she started teaching in 2006 as a Kindergarten through 8th-Grade Teacher at the Idaho Virtual Academy and served as a Kindergarten and 4th Grade Teacher at Siena Elementary School in the West Ada School District. Ms. Cromie also worked as a Research Assistant at the Developing Mathematical Thinking Institute at Boise State University.  

Ms. Cromie  is a strong instructional leader who is focused on establishing positive and collaborative working relationships with students, staff and parents.  She is dedicated to the Boise School District's Vision of preparing students for success in college, career and life.  

Ms. Cromie currently serves students as an Assistant Principal at Horizon Elementary School (2014-17) and also as Assistant Principal at Grace Jordan Elementary School (2016-17).  She has also served as the Summer School Principal at Horizon Elementary (2015). In addition, Ms. Cromie has experience implementing Common Core Standards and conducting staff professional development  opportunities.

Ms. Cromie earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Boise State University and a Master of Arts Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Idaho.  

Ms. Cromie will serve as Assistant Principal at Les Bois Junior High School, beginning the start of the 2017-18 school year.


Cherise Longoria  - Special Education Supervisor

Cherise Longoria has served students in the Boise School District for seven years.  

Ms. Longoria began her teaching career in Texas where she taught elementary Special Education for 6 years (2005-2010).  In 2010, she moved to Boise and taught math in the Special Education classroom for students in grades 7-9. In the summer of 2012, Ms. Longoria worked as the Summer School Principal at Hawthorne Elementary. In the summer of 2013, and the summer of 2014, she served as the Summer School Principal at Whittier Elementary. In 2015, she was the Principal of the traditional high school summer school program at Borah. Previous to transitioning to Les Bois as the Assistant Principal (2015 to present), Ms. Longoria served 2 ½ years as a Special Education Consulting Teacher supporting teachers K-12 throughout the Boise School District.

Ms. Longoria is a strong instructional leader who works well with staff, students, parents and the school community. She is a strong advocate for the work of educational professionals and  provides the support necessary to see that students and staff members succeed every day.  

Ms. Longoria earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education and Health from Eastern Oregon University and a Master's Degree in Education and Administration from the University of Idaho.  

Ms. Longoria will serve as Special Education Supervisor beginning the start of the 2017-18 school year.



Jean Lovelace - Assistant Principal, Trail Wind & White Pine Elementary Schools

Jean Lovelace has 38 years of experience serving the public in Colorado and Idaho. In Cortez, Colorado she worked as a Medical Technologist at Southwest Memorial Hospital (1979-1989), as a Youth Counselor at Sunrise Youth Shelter (1989-1990), and as the Principal and Counselor at Southwest Open School (1990-2001). After moving to Boise she worked as a School Designer for Expeditionary Learning Outward Bound (2001-2002) and as the Organizational Director at ANSER Charter School (2002-2003). Ms. Lovelace served as an Intern Principal at both Cole and Franklin Elementary Schools during the fall of 2003 and as Principal at Whitney Elementary School from 2003 to 2016. Last year, she was an Assistant Principal at Trail Wind Elementary School and a Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports Trainer.

Ms. Lovelace is a well respected instructional leader who creates a strong school culture based on respect, safety and fun. She believes that every student can achieve a high degree of academic success. Ms. Lovelace has extensive school leadership experience, having helped Whitney Elementary School grow into a vibrant community of learners. At Whitney, she successfully implemented a Dual Language Program, Boise Pre-K program, a Community Center, an ELL program, Just For Kids Daycare, and the Children's Dental Clinic. All of these entities work to form a strong community support system for students, staff and families.

Ms. Lovelace earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in General Biology from Fort Lewis College, a Medical Technology Degree from Parkview Episcopal Hospital, a Master of Arts in Counseling and Psychology from Adams State College, and an Educational Leadership Degree from Northern Arizona University.

Ms. Lovelace will serve as the Assistant Principal of both Trail Wind and White Pine Elementary Schools beginning the start of the 2017-18 school year.



Rebecca Severson - Assistant Principal, Horizon Elementary School

Rebecca Severson has served children in the Boise School District as an educator since 2011. During that time she has worked as a long-term substitute teacher (2011-12 - 5th grade, Riverside Elementary); Kindergarten Teacher (2012-15 - Whitney Elementary); First Grade Teacher (2015 to present - Whitney Elementary); and Summer School Principal (2016 & 2017).

Ms. Severson currently serves on the Leadership Team at Whitney Elementary School and has helped establish goals for the school. In addition, she represented the team at the 2017 National Title I Conference. Ms. Severson also supports technology at her school by serving as Whitney's  Instructional Lead in Technology.  

Ms. Severson is a collaborative educator who works well with parents, students and fellow staff members. She embraces change that improves education for students. She readily utilizes District resources for curriculum and support to ensure that each and every student has an opportunity to succeed.

Ms. Severson earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Community Health Sciences from Brigham Young University, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Boise State University and a Master's Degree in Education Leadership from the University of Idaho.

Ms. Severson will serve as Assistant Principal, Horizon Elementary School beginning the start of the 2017-18 school year.


Dr. Irene Westrick - Career Technical Education Content Supervisor

Dr. Irene Westrick has 19 years of experience working in various state leadership capacities in Career Technical Education (CTE). She has served as an Adjunct Faculty Member (Boise State University - Center for Horticulture Technology) and Statewide Vocational Education Manager (Idaho Department of Correction).  She was also the Skilled and Technical Sciences Program Manager, SkillsUSA Idaho Executive Director (State of Idaho - Division of Idaho Career Technical Education), and the Staff Development and Communications Director for the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare Division of Medicaid.  Dr. Westrick served as the Principal of the Dennis Technical Education Center from 2014 to 2016.    

Dr. Westrick has extensive statewide leadership experience in providing technical assistance for the CTE system in Idaho. She has managed and provided guidance for 300 CTE programs statewide and is dedicated to seeing that each and every student has an opportunity to succeed in career-tech programs.  She has collaborated on statewide STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) initiatives and believes in the Boise District's Vision of graduating students prepared to succeed in college, career and citizenship.

Dr. Westrick is a dedicated, knowledgeable and passionate professional who cares about the success of students and staff members. She has coordinated various professional development opportunities for fellow educators and is committed to their success.

Dr. Westrick has an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Horticulture Technology from Boise State University, a Bachelor of Applied Science Degree from Boise State University, a Master of Education Degree from the University of Idaho and a Doctorate Degree in Education from the University of Idaho.
