Admission News and Notes: November 2023

Greetings from Salisbury Academy!

We've had a busy and joyful start to the fall season at Salisbury Academy. In honor of October's Mental Health Awareness Month, SA had the pleasure of hosting two wellness events: a screening of Anxious Nation at the SA Upper School and An Evening of Learning and Growth with guest speaker Dr. Michael G. Thompson. Looking ahead, November holds a bounty of stewardship efforts and academic experiences for our students.

I invite you to join us for an upcoming Open House at the SA Upper School on Friday, December 8 from 9 a.m. to noon. See below for more details. Additionally, applications are live online for 2024-25!

Schedule a tour or contact me via email to learn more about our dynamic school community. Click here for information on tuition affordability. I look forward to hearing from you!

Learning Highlights

Circulatory System Study in the Fourth Grade

Fourth grade is learning about the make-up of blood as part of their study of the circulatory system. Last week on Halloween, students created blood with red blood cells (red beads and red food coloring), white blood cells (white pompons), platelets (white rice), and plasma (corn syrup).

Employing Systems Thinking to Make Measurable Change in the SA Upper School

Upper School students are learning and putting into practice project management skills, strategy development, customer and stakeholder analysis, survey design and execution, and data-driven analytics in their Community Immersion and Systems Thinking class with John Cowan of Value-Driven Strategic Consulting.

Kindergarten SEL Explores the Importance of Feelings

Social Emotional Learning (SEL) at SA builds self-awareness, self-control, and interpersonal skills that set students up for success and help them be the best people they can be! In kindergarten SEL, students are discussing and engaging in activities around the importance of feelings, even feelings that aren't happy.
