Learning and Community Highlights

SA Upper School Launch

Salisbury Academy successfully launched our SA Upper School in Downtown Salisbury in August. The Upper School currently serves 9th-11th grades and next year will add 12th grade. In these first several weeks, students are familiarizing themselves with their courses, teachers, clubs, and athletics as well as the wealth of community resources that are just steps from their downtown campus! Pictured here, 11th grade Upper School students are already several weeks into the courses they are enrolled in at Catawba College.

Hello to SA's new 3K program and families!

An additional new program this year, Salisbury Academy is so very happy to welcome our 3K class and its students, teachers, and families. The 3K program nourishes students through imaginative play that engages the senses, healthful routines to encourage sound habits, and loving relationships that teach goodness and kindness.

Springboarding into Narrative Writing with Summer Reading Vocabulary

Middle school students at SA keep their skills sharp over the summer with math modules and novel reading assignments. In the fifth grade, students read the book “Wish.” Pictured here, students spring-boarded into their personal narrative writing unit in CKLA (Core Knowledge Language Arts) with a vocabulary parade in which each student dressed as a vocabulary word from “Wish.” Vocabulary development strengthens reading comprehension and communication, a perfect focus to get the creative words and ideas flowing among SA's fabulous fifth grade narrative writers!

Preparing Passionate Leaders at SA Chapel

Salisbury Academy kicked off our main campus weekly chapels last week with a message by Pastor James Demmel of St. John's Lutheran Church, music by SA parent Jeremy Vess, and greeting, prayers, and introductions led by eighth grade students. Chapel provides a weekly opportunity for community connection and reflection on our school-wide virtues, learning through guest speakers, and fostering student leadership. Guests are invited to join us for chapel at 9:15 a.m. each Thursday.
