Wishmaking Monthly
Chapter to Kick Off 27th Annual Adopt-A-Wish Holiday Campaign
This November marks the 27th year of the Adopt-A-Wish Holiday Campaign, Make-A-Wish Northeast New York’s longest-running fundraising event and an annual tradition throughout the 15 counties we serve.

This vitally important fundraising campaign kicks off Nov. 14 with a celebration at Crossgates Mall and runs through the holidays. It is highlighted by paper stars featuring wish kid ambassadors who were granted wishes during the past year. For the second year, the campaign will include a Day of Wishes Telethon on CBS 6 Albany, followed by an Evening of Giving, at Colonie Center on Thursday, Dec. 5.
Meet Our Adopt-A-Wish Ambassadors
The Make-A-Wish Northeast New York Adopt-A-Wish Holiday Campaign is an institution in the region as it enters its 27th year. But the strength of the campaign is not the paper stars offered for donation at area malls, schools, banks and other business, but the wish kids portrayed on them – and the wish stories they and their families have to tell.

Meet our 2019 Adopt-A-Wish-Holiday Campaign wish ambassadors.

Tyler Goes Behind The Steel Curtain
Make-A-Wish Northeast New York wish kid Tyler was not in awe when he met his heroes on the Pittsburgh Steelers after watching the team practice at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex in Pittsburgh on a September Friday. The 18-year-old was smiling, laughing, interacting with the team – and the players were smiling and laughing with him.

These Steelers connected with the charismatic teen.

“Meeting all the team was really nice,” said the 18-year-old Tyler, of Malone. “They were all friendly. They’re all down to earth -- really nice guys.”
Hear from Wish Kids, Wish Parents and More in Wishmaker
The upcoming issue of Wishmaker magazine, due out in a few weeks, features powerful accounts from various corners of the Make-A-Wish Northeast New York family.

Wish moms and wish granters, a wish child and sponsor, a wish sibling and more share in their own words the power of a wish, and how their wish experience impacted them, their families and their community.
It Takes Many to Share the Power of a Wish
Next month the chapter kicks off its 27th Annual Adopt-A-Wish Holiday Campaign -- a critical fundraiser that perfectly illustrates how it takes everyone in the Make-A-Wish Northeast New York family to share the power of a wish ®.

This campaign that stretches across our 15-county chapter requires the combined efforts of our wish kid ambassadors and sponsors such as Trustco Bank. And scores of volunteers who staff booths at area malls, and schoolchildren who collect donations. It requires the skills of our broadcast partners, CBS 6 Albany and Albany Broadcasting Company, and -- of course -- the generosity of the public who purchase our stars for donation.

Without the dedication of so many people, we would not be able to grant heartfelt wishes to children with critical illnesses. To each of you who devote your time and treasure to this campaign, a sincere thank you on behalf of our Make-A-Wish Northeast New York wish kids and families.

Sincerely,

Bill Trigg,  CEO, Make-A-Wish Northeast New York
