Meet the Puppies

Who can resist a puppy's big eyes and overall cuteness?! We currently have twelve adorable puppies who are ready to find loving forever homes that they can fill with unconditional love, joy, and friendship!

All the puppies have their own unique personalities! They are microchipped, vet-checked, and up-to-date on vaccinations, and their adoption fees include their spay or neuter.

The nine puppies with car-related names are retriever mixes who are just a month old. They will be medium to large in size once fully grown. Please visit our website to find their full profiles and adoption applications.

The three with mythology names (pictured left to right: Hercules, Medusa, and Hermes) are Spanish mastiff mixes who are five months old. They will be large or very large in size once fully grown. Please click their names for their full profiles and adoption applications.

Please remember that although absolutely adorable, adopting a puppy is not for everyone. It requires a serious life-long commitment to care, training, veterinary needs, etc., as well as a home and lifestyle conducive to raising a puppy. Don't forget we have many dogs of all ages that are just as deserving of a loving forever home, as well as many cats and small animals. Please check out our website and Facebook albums for information on all of our adoptable animals!

Long-Term Spotlight: Dale

Some of our adoptable animals have been with us for quite some time and have been waiting patiently at the shelter or in foster care for their families to find them. We can't wait for them to find the loving forever homes they so deserve!

Dale is a real beauty! He is five years old and a very well-mannered and gentle cat. Dale used to be a nervous boy who preferred to keep his distance from people. During his time in foster care, he has made great strides in becoming more social, and continues to grow more and more comfortable around people. Dale loves to explore and now enjoys being close to his foster family, often settling right beside them to relax and hang out. For a long time, Dale wasn't quite ready for people to pet him, but he has now started to accept gentle petting! He started off by allowing pets while he was eating, and now he also likes being petted while resting on the couch. He even pushes his head into his foster's hand while being petted! We're so happy and proud of him! Dale loves interactive playtime, and plays with toys as if he's a kitten. He loves his wand toy and will often lie next to it, and he'll be over in a flash if his foster starts waving it around! He can play with it for hours (see video!), and will meow for more. Dale really enjoys the company of the other cats in the home and made friends with them easily. He even grooms them (check out a cute video in the comments section of this post)! He has opened up a lot thanks to their friendship, and he seems much more confident and relaxed when he's with them. He is best suited to a calm forever home with a feline friend. Dale is such a cute cat who deserves a loving forever home where he can continue to blossom and enjoy all that life has to offer!

Dale's full profile and adoption application can be found here. You can also email our foster cat coordinator at foster@hsgn.ca for more information. Dale can't wait to find his perfect forever home!

Adoptable Pets of the Week

OPIE

Say hello to handsome Opie! He is a Labrador retriever mix who, at seven years of age, may be considered a senior, but he still has lots of pep in his step! He is very playful (fetch is a favourite) and loves treats. He also has an adorable silly side that comes out when he's rolling around on the grass! He is such a sweet and friendly boy who is pretty much perfect in every way! Opie is looking for committed adopters who will help him brush up on his obedience. He is really easygoing and so much fun to hang out with! Opie's perfect forever home has a fully fenced yard and no cats. He would be fine to go to a home with another friendly dog and/or children. Opie quickly becomes best friends with everyone he meets, and he will be such a loving and loyal companion to his lucky new family. To welcome him into your heart and home, please click the Adopt Me button on his profile to begin the adoption application process. Opie can't wait to fill his new home with love and joy!

FLORA

Isn't Flora such a beautiful cat? She is just a year old, and a charming but nervous girl. She had a rough start to life and felt she always had to be on guard when she first arrived, so she will take a bit of time to learn to relax and build trust. She likes to have a safe place to go to if there's too much noise or too many fast movements around her. Once she knows you're a friend, she likes to be petted on her head and around her ears. She also loves treats and catnip. It will be very rewarding for Flora's new family to see her blossom in a loving home and let her true personality shine! To give her the life she's always deserved, please click the Adopt Me button on her profile to begin the adoption application process. Flora can't wait to meet her forever family!

CARAMEL MACCIATO

Introducing the very cute Caramel Macciato! This gorgeous boy is a mini rex bunny with a super soft fur coat. When he first arrived in our care, he was sick, dehydrated, and skinny. He was treated for an upper respiratory infection and sore feet, and has made a full recovery and is feeling great! Caramel Macciato is a very talkative bunny, and also very food motivated (he loves his pellets!). He's an active boy and gets stir crazy if confined to a cage, so he will need a few hours out of his cage every day to stretch his legs and get some exercise. He will need fluffy Carefresh style litter, as well as soft bath mats or shag carpeting to give his little feet extra cushioning. He is currently in foster care, but would love to find a forever home where he can bond with a shy or nervous spayed female bunny. Most bunnies are much happier with a partner, and opposite personalities and genders make the best matches. Alternatively, he can be adopted solo to a doting family. His adoption fee is $40, which includes his neuter, vet exam, and RHDV vaccine. You can see Caramel Macciato's full profile here; to inquire about adopting, please call the shelter at 905-682-0767 as he is not yet on our website. This sweet boy hopes to hear from you very soon!
