The Arkansas Association of Continuing and Adult Education (AACAE) and Adult Learning Alliance (ALA) are excited to announce Karen Walker as keynote speaker for the upcoming 2022 conference Thursday, October 27th to Friday, October 28th. A pre-conference will be held on Wednesday, October 26th.
Karen Walker serves as the Community Education Manager for Arkansas PBS and has over 20 years of experience in designing and leading interactive education camps and workshops for adults and children. In the past 16 years, Karen has created many new partnerships while strengthening existing partners in areas of early learning (formal and informal), K-12 educational activities, and adult education. She has led many national, regional, and local initiatives that focused not only on educational activities, but also on addressing the needs of the community through social support partnerships throughout the state. She serves as an on-camera and event spokesperson for Arkansas PBS.
The pre-conference covers these two topics: Trauma Training and Customer Service Training.Trauma Training will focus on trauma-informed care, survival skills and literacy and trauma information strategies, while Customer Service Training will review effective verbal and non-verbal communication, professionalism, maintaining a positive attitude and phone and mail etiquette. All adult education staff members are invited to take advantage of these trainings.
Your AACAE committee is still accepting awards nomination for the following categories: Outstanding Paraprofessional, Outstanding Adult Education Teacher, Luther H. Black Award for Outstanding Administrator, Adult Education Supporter, Retirees during the program year 2021-22. The board requests that those be submitted as soon as possible.
