Advanced Accounting Students Assist with Tax Forms through VITA

Members of the advanced tax accounting class at Texas A&M University-Kingsville are assisting community members with their 2016 income tax forms through a program called Volunteer Income Tax Preparation Assistance (VITA).

The students will be available to help at the Texas Community Credit Union, 605 E. Caesar in Kingsville, from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursdays and from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, through April 15. Students are required to put in a minimum of 16 hours with VITA, but many work more.

Business ethics subject of breakfast talk

Business leaders and residents from around the community had an opportunity to hear a unique presentation on the topic of ethics Thursday at the Texas A&M University-Kingsville College of Business community breakfast. 

The purpose of the event, which was co-hosted by the Kingsville Chamber of Commerce and the Kleberg Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, is to stimulate discussion and raise awareness about a variety of topics each year. The keynote speaker for Thursday's event was Weston Smith a former chief financial officer for Healthsouth Corporation.

CBA's Center for Negotiation Schedules Seminars

The Center for Negotiation in the College of Business Administration at Texas A&M University-Kingsville has scheduled seminars for the spring semester.

All seminars will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Kingsville Chamber of Commerce. Seminars are $25 each. The deadline to sign up is three days prior to each event.

A workshop on Negotiating Online will be held Tuesday, March 28. Several negotiation techniques designed to resolve a dispute or create a mutually beneficial deal can help prevent or manage an organizational crisis. The first half of the seminar will discuss these methods and processes, while the second half will engage in practicing how to apply them. Read more about this article.


Goal for Ralph Russell Distinguished Endowment Is in Sight     
Help us reach our $750,000 goal!
 
With the goal of advancing its academic vision and priorities, the College of Business Administration launched a fundraising campaign in 2013 to support the Ralph C. Russell Distinguished Professorship, named for Ralph C. Russell, Professor Emeritus, who was an accounting professor at Texas A&I University for 26 years.

The campaign sought to raise $750,000 for the endowment in support of the Department of Accounting faculty and students and to provide immediate assistance for academic priorities. To date, the university has raised more than $685,000 toward the $750,000 goal and anticipates reaching or exceeding its goal within the year.
