In The News

In this Workforce® article, APH’s Dr. Rutkowski and Ms. Daugherty cover an important medical development where transplants with organs from infected donors are saving people’s lives — and saving money for both patients and plan sponsors.

More than 114,000 Americans are on the organ transplant list and about 20 people die each day waiting for a transplant. Expanding the pool to allow organs to be transplanted that were previously discarded can reduce suffering, save lives and, in many cases, reduce high disease-related medical costs for self-insured employers, insurers and patients. One way the pool is beginning to expand is by allowing organs to be transplanted from donors with hepatitis C

Poindexter Hints and Tips
Creating Cohort Lists – and pulling them into reports across the Poindexter system

We’ve found that some of our Poindexter users are not familiar with using cohort lists to follow and track a group of members across the reporting spectrum. So we thought we’d share some insights into that functionality here.
When you have a report with a list of members displayed, you will see a “Create List” button above the list that enables you to create a list.

Once you create a list, you can access the list via the “My Lists” menu on the left side of the screen.

Once you create a list it can then be applied through the Advanced Search function (at the top of reports) to focus on ONLY the members in the original list or EXCLUDING the members in the list. This allows for concentration on a subset of the population in your reporting rather than the population as a whole.
The list feature allows users to track any combination of parameters such as:

  • High cost members
  • Members with targeted conditions
  • Members with targeted procedures
  • Results of a program those members have participated in (by utilizing the Initiative Tracker report)
  • And more…
Blog Insights

Our clinical leadership wanted to update our readership on some large-scale and important updates to cholesterol guidelines to help support awareness. The 2013 ACC / AHA clinical guideline for cholesterol treatment and coronary disease prevention was recently updated to better integrate patient information data and improve atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk assessment.

We have been asked if clients may publish or feature our blog content on their own newsletters, blogs and other marketing communications. We’re always honored to receive these requests.

If you see something we publish that you’d like to use, just reach out to marketing@mypoindexter.com and we’ll get that to you.
