Market Trends & News
APH regularly scans the healthcare market for news and analysis. In our research we come across trends and news throughout the various healthcare markets that we believe are of value for our readers.

This month, we report a few trends for the self-funded market.
Self-Funded Market Trends of October:

“Provides a checklist of items to consider before the end of 2019 or in early 2020”

“Sutter Health has reached a tentative settlement in an antitrust suit brought by the California Attorney General’s Office.”

“Costs of fully funded programs are increasing 8-10% a year, motivating CFOs to play a more hands-on role in shaping the insurance their company provides employees.”

“Employers are finding that workers like the predictability of a traditional health care plan and that providing more generous plans can help with recruiting in a tight labor market.”

Blog Insights

We'd like to extend a big thank you to our guest blog contributor - Higginbotham

In order to truly impact the health of the organization, measure program success, see a tangible return on investment and contain cost, it's essential to implement a health risk management program. The program should actively engage your employees, make them aware of their current health status through preventative testing and possible risks associated with unhealthy behaviors, provide education to promote behavioral change and offer the measurement of tangible results for both the employee and the employer. But where do you start?

Over the past few decades the Mediterranean diet has grown considerably popular among Americans who seek to treat various health complications or improve overall health through their diets. This is an area of interest to our business clients who are looking to support better well-being through sustainable behavior change, so we wanted to share some information related to the topic.
