Hawk Happenings
Katria Stewart ‘15 Joins Advancement Office

Katria returned home from North Carolina in the midst of the pandemic to take a role at her alma mater this year, sharing her time between serving as the school’s Substitute Teacher and an Associate in the Advancement Office. Additionally, Katria will serve as an Assistant Coach with the volleyball team for the upcoming season.

While at Hudson Catholic, Katria competed on the varsity volleyball team and became the first female athlete in school history to receive a 4-year scholarship to a Division I school, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Katria holds the distinction of Hudson County Interscholastic Athletic League Player of the Year along with the school record for most ‘kills’ in a single season.

At UNCC, Katria earned a B.A in Criminal Justice. After graduating, she became a Head Coach at Central Cabarrus High School and a National Coach for a top volleyball club in the state of NC.

CAO Gifts first Paycheck

Chief Advancement Officer Gary Ferrari has been in the role over 90 days now, but here he is shown donating his first paycheck back to Hudson Catholic, into the waiting hands of President Richard Garibell.

Ferrari stated: “It is vitally important for leaders of a non-profit educational institution to be seen to ‘have skin in the game’ as a means for attracting and motivating community, business, and alumni benefactors to join in and support our cause with their time, talent and treasure. Hudson Catholic is well supported in that way, with gifts received among Administration, Faculty, the Consultative Board, the Alumni Association, and its Executive Board. After all, we are a LaSallian community who live our lives in service to others.”

Request to Update You!

If you are reading this, we’ve got your email address, but may not have up-to-date contact information for phone and mailing address.

Please take a moment and share your complete record of contact information by clicking on the button below to complete a short form that will serve to keep you up to date at the Hawk’s Nest and give you the opportunity to tell us something about you or what you are up to in your life.

This will enable us to update you on Hudson Catholic-related announcements, notices, events, and appeals.

Indeed, our database was our most important asset in 2008 when the Save Our School emergency arose. Without your information then, we wouldn’t be here now. In this spirit, we will post a list of Lost Alumni (no contact information whatsoever) in the near future, on the Advancement Page of hudsoncatholic.org and ask you to let us know if you are in touch with any of them. We need to preserve our cast of Hawks!

Stay in touch with us, please. Feel free to write to us at gferrari@hudsoncatholic.org to offer personal updates, highlights, family announcements, professional awards or career milestones -- anything -- that you would like to share with fellow alumni and friends of Hudson Catholic -- about yourself, classmates or other alums.
Update to Our Scholarship Awards Issue

After we went to print on October 13th, 13 more families received tuition assistance awards totaling $16,800 from the Scholarship Fund for Inner-City Children, vaulting the SFIC into first place among all of Hudson Catholic’s scholarship and tuition assistance ‘angels’, with totals of $128,100 for 77 families!
