Dear friends and neighbors,

This week, we were excited to pass our Launch Communications Act on the House floor. This bipartisan bill with Dr. Neal Dunn will help us streamline FCC licenses needed to launch rockets from U.S. soil into space, including at Cape Canaveral. Now, the Senate must vote on our bill and send it to President Biden.

We also hosted our annual Future Forum Youth Congress with an incredible group of interns from Florida and the Capitol. During this immersive two-day session, our “representatives” debated and passed bills, conducted oversight, and addressed a national emergency. They also heard directly from Members, White House officials, and key congressional staff about their experiences. We are proud of all our “representatives” and look forward to another great session next year.

Later in the week, I was honored to attend a meeting with the Regional Leadership Council and White House officials. We're working to make sure the benefits of the historic investments we made in the 117th Congress reach every corner of the country — including our district.

In the Energy and Commerce Committee, we continued our work to advance bills that ensure automated vehicles are safe and made in America. In our district, BEEP serves our community by transporting veterans to the VA, taking families to Nemours to receive cancer treatment, driving tourists around Lake Nona, and more.

Back in the district, Polk County Regional Water Cooperative received the great news that they were accepted for a $305 million Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act loan. We were proud to help secure this loan that will pave the way for two transformative projects that tap into the lower Floridan Aquifer and distribute treated water to ensure adequate supply for Polk County’s future.

Next week, we'll be back in the district continuing our efforts to bring critical resources and opportunities to our district and state.

PACT Act Town Hall
Thanks to the PACT Act, the Department of Veterans Affairs has already delivered more than $1.4 billion in benefits to veterans and toxic-exposed veterans in Central Florida can access their rightfully earned VA benefits now. Because of this, we encourage all veterans who qualify to file claims by August 10, 2023, to have their benefits backdated to August 10, 2022 — the day that President Biden signed the bill into law.
