Seniors Awarded Inaugural Peter Michaud Memorial Scholarships
Sophia Melnyk, Eisenhower '22 will use her $1,000 scholarship to attend The University of Wisconsin-Madison to study Chemistry and Spanish with aspirations to become a pediatrician.

"As a member of a trilingual household, I maintain that traveling and exploration advance more than just concrete knowledge—they also encourage the tolerance and compassion that are paramount to creating a more unified and brighter world."
Mara Barczak, West '22 will use her $1,000 scholarship to attend Carroll University to study Theatre Arts and French with the intention to participate in a study abroad program.

"Having the opportunity to live in a foreign country and spend several months there actively practicing the culture, interacting with people, or even speaking the language can offer an enriching experience that allows people to gain an empathy and appreciation for other people and cultures different from their own."
The Foundation’s Peter Michaud Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2021 by School District of New Berlin educators to honor their former colleague. Mr. Michaud was a beloved elementary school teacher to many in the School District of New Berlin; because of his passion for world travel and exploration, candidates submitted an essay expressing their own interest or experience with travel and/or world exploration.

Apply Now! Payton Alexander Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Payton Alexander Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2022 by the Alexander Family, educators, and coaches at New Berlin West High School. Each year, a portion of proceeds from the Payton Alexander Memorial Golf Outing will fund these scholarships and establish an endowment to ensure scholarships will be available in perpetuity.
This scholarship honors the 2020 alumna from New Berlin West who participated in the girls' varsity golf team. Payton battled cancer for four years; first being diagnosed in 2018. She lost her fight to cancer in November of 2021. She loved golf and cared about her education. Payton always had a positive attitude, worked hard, and volunteered for many non-profit organizations. Payton focused on helping others and knew how to put a smile on someone's face. This scholarship is intended to continue her legacy and bring awareness to childhood cancer.
