State Chamber Update
As reported by the National Association of Manufacturer’s last week, U. S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and U.S. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) met with President Donald Trump, as well as Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow and Advisor to the President Ivanka Trump, to discuss the possibility of major infrastructure legislation. The meeting was hailed by all as a constructive, bipartisan first step to advance infrastructure modernization across the country. President Trump and Senate Democrats agreed to a $2 trillion investment level that would include key transportation and broadband infrastructure projects. That represents the type of bold level of investment that the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce has long advocated for. The leaders also agreed to meet again in three weeks to discuss funding proposals. Businesses of every size and industry continue to urge policymakers to seize this opportunity and deliver meaningful infrastructure modernization for the future success of our country.
