Dear COA Member,
I want to express my sincere appreciation for your continuous support and dedication to the Canadian Orthopaedic Association (COA) throughout 2023. With our focus shifting to 2024 Membership Renewals, this moment allows us to reflect on the milestones achieved last year, as detailed in the COA's 2023 Annual Report.
The past year was marked by significant growth, resilience, and progress. Under the leadership of Dr. Pierre Guy, alongside the invaluable contributions from our Executive Committee, Board of Directors, Committees, and Head Office Team, we have deepened our commitment to key areas in education, advocacy, and cultivating impactful partnerships throughout the musculoskeletal healthcare community. Our collective achievements were made possible thanks to you, our members, as well as our subspecialty societies, partnering organizations, sponsors, and exhibitors, who are the cornerstone of our Association.
As we move forward into 2024, the COA is committed to offering members increased advocacy through member-led meetings, leadership training and scholarship opportunities, programs for residents and next generation leaders, along with partner education and consensus-building sessions with stakeholder organizations and orthopaedic subspecialty affiliates. Your engagement in Canadian Orthopaedic Care Day and our Ortho Insider Podcast unites the COA with the entire orthopaedic community, giving us the chance to share our message nationally and globally.
We can’t wait to see you from June 12-15 at the COA | CORS | CORA Annual Meeting in beautiful Halifax Nova Scotia. Chaired by Dr. Glen Richardson (Dalhousie University), this year’s program’s guest lecturers include Drs. Emil Schemitsch as the CORS Macnab Lecturer and Kevin Orrell as the R.I. Harris Lecturer. Sessions with partnering associations including Orthopaedic Surgery Physician Assistants Network (OrthoPA), the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA), the Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA), as well as all orthopaedic subspecialty societies, will make for a truly remarkable conference. Look out for a registration announcement coming soon!
In light of these benefits and the rising costs associated with delivering enhanced member services, coupled with economic challenges from the last few years, we find it necessary to adjust our membership dues. This is the first adjustment to our membership fees in 8 years. The increase will enable us to sustain the quality and expand the scope of our programs, advocacy efforts, and educational resources, ensuring the COA continues to serve as a pivotal resource for our members.
Membership renewals were issued this week and provide information on the adjusted dues and the value they represent. If you have any questions about your membership, please contact us.
Thank you for your ongoing commitment to the COA. Together, we look forward to continued success, innovation, and collaboration.
Warm regards,
Cynthia Vezina
