Advancing Equity in Early Childhood Education Position Statement
In 2019, the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) published a new position statement that outlines steps to provide high-quality early learning programs that build on each child's unique individual and family strengths, cultural background, language(s), abilities, and experiences, and eliminate differences in educational outcomes as a result of who children are, where they live, and what resources their families have.
Equity Resources
NAEYC has compiled a variety of resources to help you advance the work of equity in your own program.
Anti-Bias Education
A basic principle in the field of early care and education is that when you treat children as if they are strong, intelligent, and kind, they are far more likely to behave in strong, intelligent, kind ways. They are more likely to learn and thrive and succeed. In an anti-bias program, children learn to be proud of themselves and of their families, to respect human differences, to recognize bias, and to speak up for what is right. This online, instructor-led course will introduce you to anti-bias education and give you ways to implement it in your program.
