• Unsolicited Contact: Scammers reach out through phone calls, emails, or pop-up messages.
• False Claims: They pretend to be from reputable companies or organizations, creating urgency about malware, technical issues, or security breaches. 
• Remote Access or Payment Requests: They may ask for remote access or immediate payment for their services. 

To protect yourself: 

• Be Skeptical: Be cautious when it comes to unsolicited tech support contacts. Legitimate companies will never reach out to you first or ask for remote access to your computer unless you have specifically contacted them using a verified number and requested support. Always independently verify identity by contacting the organization through official channels. 
• Guard Personal Information: Avoid sharing sensitive details unless you've verified the request's legitimacy.
• Enable Security Measures: Keep devices updated, use strong passwords, and enable two-factor authentication. 
• Report Suspicious Activity: If you encounter tech support scams or any fraudulent activity, please report them to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Additionally, if you have inadvertently shared sensitive personal financial information, such as online banking login access, with these "tech support" fraudsters, contact us immediately. We are here to assist you and help mitigate any potential risks.
