Bethlehem: Water shortages and trees of hope
This Christmas Season I will have concrete places in my mind when I listen to the story of the shepherds in the fields of Bethlehem. I will think of the Bedouin community in Suyica, near Yatta, a Palestinian city in the West Bank. They live in tents and in caves because they are not allowed to build houses. Learn more.

St. Francis Xavier

Missioning of Xavier (In the Footsteps of Xavier)
Missioning of Xavier (In the Footsteps of Xavier)
His Feast Day is December 3rd.
" While trying to unify the world under Christ, Xavier was discovering the depth and extent of differences. He learned that God was revealed within those differences.... He began to feel and know God's work. He was transformed in his understanding of "difference" and "oneness."  Learn more about the Patron Saint of the Xaverian Missionaries here .

Following in Francis' example, Fr. Carl Chudy SX discovered "difference" and "oneness" at the Parliament of the World's Religions. Read his article on  the Xaverian Missionaries' Catholic Mission blog, American Pluralism: Its Promises and Struggle.

Interfaith Conference Strengthens Bonds

On the very day that a gunman killed 11 people at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, a group of Metrowest, Massachusetts residents gathered at Holliston's Temple Beth Torah for an event dedicated to promoting understanding and cooperation among people of diverse religious faiths.

Entitled "Listening and Loving: Honoring Our Diversity as Multifaith Neighbors," the two- day event, held at the temple on Oct. 27 and the Xaverian Missionaries' Our Lady of Fatima Shrine on Oct. 28, was the first such gathering sponsored by the Metrowest Interfaith Dialogue Project, launched in 2017 by Holliston clergy.
