“For unto you is born this day in the City of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:11

The Advent season brings on many memories and can also be a period of anticipation and transition in our lives.

In the Fall of 1994, we eagerly awaited the arrival of our son Thomas. This was certainly a transition in our lives during that Advent Season. The anticipation was also highlighted by the fact that we decided to wait until birth to know if we were having a boy or girl. Since we did not know the gender, we were not able to plan prior to his birth or purchase items such as infant clothing and bedroom furniture. All of that was handled in short order following Thomas’ arrival. The anticipation and the arrival of Thomas was a time of great joy in our lives, and we are blessed and grateful every day for God’s gift to us.

We can only imagine the anticipation and transition in the lives of Mary and Joseph as they awaited the birth of Jesus, especially since that which was conceived in her was of the Holy Ghost. The angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and told her that that she would give birth to the Son of God. Likewise, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph and told him in a dream that Mary was with child of the Holy Ghost. During this Advent season, we reflect on and celebrate the birth of Jesus on Christmas Day.

Thanks be to God for blessing us by sending his son Jesus Christ.
