The Message this Week

Preaching Text: Amos 1:1-2; 5:14-15, 21-24

The prophet Amos.  Amos is speaking about 'right' worship in Judah and Israel. Turns out it’s not about singing the ‘right’ liturgy or performing sacrifices correctly. It is how the people are behaving outside of worship… and in this case, the people of both Judah and Israel are not living in line with their worship. What does it look like to model our lives on our pattern of worship?

God of justice, guide us through our daily lives to live out worship; with hands and hearts open to give and receive Your grace and love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

WONDERING...

Real questions from real people to learn more about faith.

With so many needs in the world, how can we respond as a church?

  • Clear our eyes to see your vision of justice for all as something worth striving for, as messy and difficult as it may be.
  • Give us hunger for your vision of justice for the natural world we share with all your people and all your creatures.
  • We remember those who have laid themselves on the line, and in some cases given their lives in service to their country.
  • Lord, sustain the weary with your presence, and pour over them your healing.
  • Give us courage to follow the lead of your saints who have fought for what is good, and together share in the riches of your eternal kingdom.

We lift all these prayers, and those of our hearts, to your loving care, O God. Receive them and restore our hope in your promises. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Some have asked how we are supporting the people of Jamaica who were affected by Hurricane Melissa. 10% of your giving goes beyond our walls and supports both the ELCA Disaster Response and Lutheran World Relief. These orgnizations share God's hope, healing and renewal with people whose lives have been disrupted by disasters in the United States and around the world.
